Guided tours

The German National Library offers a variety of exciting guided tours in Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main.

Explore the magnificent library building in Leipzig and accompany us on a journey of discovery through our listed building and the innovative annex building which was opened in 2011. This will give you an insight into the history and tasks of the Library. Experience 5,000 years of media history in a single day? You can do just that in the permanent exhibition of the German Museum of Books and Writing. Enhance your visit with a special themed tour of the current exhibitions or the stacks for extra insights.

The German Music Archive offers a guided tour of the exhibition on the history of the development of sound recordings and reproduction equipment.

Once a month the Frankfurt building also opens its doors to interested visitors. Organised in cooperation with Kulturothek, the guided tours offer an insight into the work and tasks of the Library, taking in the reading rooms and underground stacks. You will also be treated to a unique view of the Frankfurt skyline from the top floor of the building.
